Instructions and Help about Il 444-2790

Hello everyone I'm Michele Sadler the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Human Services and I have exciting news to share with you. As you know, DHS currently has six program divisions: the divisions of mental health, developmental disabilities, alcoholism and substance abuse rehabilitation services, human capital development, and community health and prevention. I'm pleased to announce today that on January 1st, 2017, a merger of two of these divisions — the division of community health and prevention, and the division of human capital development — will form the new division of Family and Community Services. Our hope and belief is that by consolidating these two divisions, we can more effectively meet the needs of children and families in an integrated way, and maximize the use of resources that we've been entrusted with. While we've reached this important milestone, we still recognize the importance of ongoing dialogue that will include our staff who work on these programs — staff from sister state agencies and experts in the field — to discuss the longer-term synergies and policy issues surrounding programs serving young children, adolescents, and vulnerable families. The division of Family and Community Services will be structured to provide services along a continuum of care from birth to death, minimizing disruption and providing the best system for...
